UrbanTide has been selected as one of ten semi-finalists for the Sustainable Cities Challenge, which seeks to increase the use of zero-carbon transport in Venice.
UrbanTide is delighted to announce that we’ve been selected as one of ten semi-finalists chosen to participate in Toyota Mobility Foundation’s $3 million Sustainable Cities Challenge.
We’ve been awarded $50,000 to develop uMove_Venice – an innovative data and AI solution that seeks to accelerate the shift towards zero/low-carbon transport in the iconic City of Water.
Working in close partnership with Love to Ride, we’ll be developing an innovative tool that uses data and AI to promote resident behaviour change and get more people cycling in Venice.
The Sustainable Cities Challenge
The Toyota Mobility Foundation's Sustainable Cities Challenge seeks innovative solutions to increase the use of low and zero-carbon transport modes in Venice (one of three global cities taking part in the challenge this year, along with Detroit and Varanasi).
More than 120 high-quality projects were submitted for the Venice challenge, so we’re delighted that uMove_Venice has been chosen as one of the ten project to recieve funding.
We’ll be sharing a $3 million prize pool with the other nine innovative finalists, that include Bikeloop, Instant System and Betterpoints LTD.
Together with these other finalists, we’ll collectively make a huge impact on local behavioral change to reduce carbon emissions and improve urban mobility around Venice.
uMove_Venice: Changing behaviour with data and AI
uMove_Venice introduces a groundbreaking approach to sustainable transport adoption. Our solution uniquely integrates city infrastructure and mobility data with an in-depth understanding of residents' motivations and usage.
Through continuous analysis, personalised interventions, and fostering a supportive community, uMove_Venice drives behaviour change, supports cycling adoption, and promotes a shift toward low-carbon transport not only to reduce emissions, but also enhance residents' quality of life.
This sophisticated approach goes beyond traditional transport planning, offering a data-driven strategy to transform urban mobility and encourage sustainable transportation behaviors.
