UrbanTide is transforming how local authorities deliver home energy grants using AI-powered precision-targeting technology.
The UK Government has allocated £500 million to local authorities in an ambitious plan to pull low-income households out of fuel poverty over the next three years.
From April 2025, the Warm Homes: Local Grant will be used to deliver home energy performance upgrades and install low-carbon heating in fuel-poor homes throughout England.
With an estimated 1 in 4 UK households currently experiencing fuel poverty, this is a large-scale project that requires innovative solutions to ensure support is deployed efficiently and on target.
UrbanTide is leading the drive by providing local authorities with groundbreaking AI-powered precision-targeting technology: uZero.
Tackling fuel poverty with AI
uZero is an AI-powered data insights platform that maps, identifies and predicts fuel poverty across any UK council area.
By integrating anonymised real-time smart meter system data with multiple cross-sector datasets, uZero supports local authorities to transform how they deliver home energy grants, ensuring resources are targeted on the households that need it most.
uZero is built on industry-leading AI models that use smart meter intelligence and other household data to create interactive multi-layer fuel poverty maps. These are accessed through a single-source data insights platform, where local authorities can easily identify households that fit the grant criteria and build their distribution strategy around that intel.

uZero has already helped a number of local authorities increase their campaign engagement and grant scheme referrals - in one case, from less than 1% to 34%.
“Thanks to uZero's targeting, we saw a 34x increase in response rates, which supported us in delivering our £82M HUG2 programme and helped those most in need” — Greater South East Net Zero Hub (GSENZH).
