UrbanTide is has been selected to present uZero at Innovate UK’s Retrofit Challenges Forum event in London.
On July 16th, we’ll be travelling to London to attend Innovate UK’s event, the Retrofit Challenges Forum: Connecting authorities with solution providers. The event, which is part of the £60 million three-year Net Zero living program, aims to bridge the gap between local authorities and solution providers currently innovating in the retrofit space.
By gathering authorities and solution providers in the same room, the event will create the perfect space to explore how we can collectively tackle the challenges and barriers associated with retrofitting on a national scale.
Solution providers will be given the opportunity to present their products and services while local authorities, housing associations and other public bodies are able to share their unique challenges with local retrofit projects, which are often complex and nuanced.
About the event
The one-day event will be held at the Building Centre, 26 Store Street in central London and presentations will be focused on the following key topics:
- Retrofitting heritage buildings
- Alternative heating solutions – including off-grid options
- Retrofit decision-making tools
- Financing options
As one of the companies selected to pitch on the program, UrbanTide Co-Founder Simon will be presenting our AI-powered fuel poverty detection product, uZero, as an innovative retrofit decision-making tool.
Accelerating the transition to Net Zero with uZero
So how exactly does uZero support local authorities and housing associations with their retrofit challenges?
uZero is a powerful AI and data insights platform that maps, identifies and predicts fuel poverty. Using real-time data and AI, uZero can support fuel-poor households and accelerate the transition to Net Zero.
UrbanTide has specifically developed uZero as a tool to help local authorities, energy providers, and health boards target solutions that improve the livability of our homes, save energy and reduce CO2.
How uZero supports the transition to Net Zero
At the event, Simon will be demonstrating how uZero can support those in charge of retrofitting homes across the UK by doing the following:
- Effectively identify areas in fuel poverty - uZero makes it easier to identify areas in or at risk of falling into fuel poverty. This includes “hidden pockets” of households in fuel poverty and higher debt risk that would otherwise escape detection.
- Provide better-targeted support - uZero makes active targeting more efficient and early intervention more effective, providing higher returns on investment when running energy-efficiency campaigns. It also reduces future burden on other support services.
- Identify priority areas for retrofitting - In cases where demand for retrofit measures outstrips the time or budget available, uZero will help identify where to prioritise delivery for maximum efficiency.
- Improve uptake of efficiency schemes - uZero can support organisations to improve the uptake of efficiency schemes amongst fuel-poor households, leading to lower energy bills and improved comfort and wellbeing.
- Create brand new insights - uZero can provide a ‘before and after’ comparison of the fuel poverty risk that can help organisations and their delivery partners better understand their programme’s success in genuinely reducing fuel poverty
